Exeter Hospital and RiverWoods at Exeter Underwrite Session

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Leadership Seacoast, a regional civic leadership development program, celebrated Health and Human Services Day at Community Campus in Portsmouth. The day was sponsored by Exeter Hospital and Riverwoods at Exeter

Home to nine non-profit health-related agencies, the Community Campus is a collaborative, multi-tenant nonprofit health initiative created and constructed by the Foundation for Seacoast Health. Through presentations, discussions and the activities, the Leadership class spent the day learning about the mission of the Community Campus and understanding the immense challenges facing families that consistently flirt with the realities of poverty and homelessness.

Sponsored by Exeter Hospital and RiverWoods at Exeter, the day concluded with participation in the United Way of the Greater Seacoast’s Walk-a-Mile—a simulation of what life can be like for a struggling family.

STONEWALL KITCHEN TO SPONSOR PROGRAM

PORTSMOUTH– Leadership Seacoast, a non-profit organization fostering informed and engaged leaders, announced it has partnered with award-winning specialty food manufacturer, Stonewall Kitchen to host Leadership Seacoast’s next program day on March 28, 2012  at Stonewall Kitchen headquarters in York, Maine.

The 35-member leadership class will spend the day exploring economic development in the Seacoast area. Champions of economic development, Stonewall Kitchen founders, Jim Stott and Jonathan King are nationally known for their success story. Stott and King launched their retail business selling jams with a folding table and umbrella at the local farmers market.  Today, Stonewall Kitchen boasts more than 6,000 wholesale accounts nationwide, thriving catalog and web divisions, nine retail Company Stores along the East Coast and a staff growing in the hundreds.

Bank sponsors Arts and Culture Program Day

Leadership Seacoast, a non-profit organization fostering informed and engaged leaders, recently completed its third program day, Arts and Culture Day at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre which was sponsored by Piscataqua Saving Bank.

Arts and Culture program day curriculum provide the thirty five class members a complete understanding of the direct link between arts and economic development; the impact of arts and culture to our quality of life; and discussed funding and accessibility issues around arts and culture in the Seacoast.

The class heard from speakers such as Van McLeod, the Cultural Resources Director for the State of New Hampshire, and Karen Marzloff of the weekly publication, The Wire, and was given behind the scenes tours of the exciting new 3S Arts Space, The Seacoast Repertory Theater, The Music Hall, The Gundalow, and The Discover Portsmouth Center.

DOVER, N.H.– Leadership Seacoast, a non-profit organization fostering informed and engaged leaders, kicked off their first program day, Justice Day on Wednesday, January 25th, at the Stratford County Jail and Court House, The day was sponsored by McLane Law Firm. The program began with a visit to the court where the class explored issues concerning the New Hampshire justice system, including alternative programs for offenders, the Drug Court Program, budget issues, and other conflicts facing the system.
The students toured the Stratford County Jail, with Ray Bower, County Administrator. Two individuals from the class got to experience first hand how the arrest and booking procedures work. Lunch was served in the jail, and the students learned the operations of Stratford County and what makes an effective jail system.
After lunch Chief Justice of the Rockingham County Superior Court, Judge Tina Nadea & Christine McKenna, Chief Probation and Parole Officer met with the group and continued the discussion on different programs and solutions. This program day was a very eye opening and hands on experience for the students, it challenged personal assumptions and exposed them to diverse ideas, possible solutions, and leadership practices.

Financial Institution Contributes To Programming For Second Year

PORTSMOUTH, N.H.– Leadership Seacoast, a non-profit organization fostering informed and engaged leaders, announced Kennebunk Savings Bank has been named a leadership sponsor after receiving a generous $1,000 donation from the financial institution.
