Outing Hosted by Cara’s Irish Pub in Dover
Dover, New Hampshire— Leadership Seacoast, a non-profit organization committed to the development of informed and active community leaders, recently held its Arts and Culture Day in Dover, hosted by Cara Irish Pub and sponsored by Piscataqua Savings Bank and Northeast Credit Union.
The seventh program experiential of the intensive six-month curriculum, the day began with discussion of the critical issues impacting arts and culture in the Seacoast region led by Chris Dwyer, of RMC Research followed by Cathy Sununu of Portsmouth Museum of Art with her perspective on working in the arts industry. Other presentations were delivered by 3S Art Space in Portsmouth, Mainstreet Art in Newfields, and Pecha Kucha- each examined the important connection between arts and business in the region.
“I am amazed by the diversity and depth of cultural opportunities in the Seacoast” said Jennifer Wheeler, Executive Director of Leadership Seacoast. “It’s not limited to the Portsmouth area—Newmarket, Exeter, Dover and Rochester—the entire seacoast region has an engaged and active arts scene that is positively impacting economy and enriching our quality of life.”
During a city wide scavenger hunt, the group explored many of Dover’s arts and cultural venues such as Cocheco Arts and Music Festival, McConnell Center, The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire, The Woodman Museum, and Dover City Hall.
Leadership Seacoast 2015 Arts and Culture Day was sponsored by Piscataqua Savings Bank, an independent community bank located in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire. And Northeast Credit Union, a leading member-owned New Hampshire Credit Union serving its members since 1936 with branches across the state. Thanks to the continued backing of area businesses like these, Leadership Seacoast is able to provide meaningful experiences for every student, offer scholarships to participants, create further opportunities for alumni, and secure the best speakers and venues.
