What is Leadership Seacoast?

Leadership Seacoast is one of 3,000 community leadership programs in the U.S. and follows the national design, which offers existing and future community leaders the opportunity to meet and learn from those who are actively involved with issues that will shape the future of the Seacoast.

Through its core program of interactive day-long presentations and discussion, participants learn about and analyze key issues affecting the cultural, social, political and economic lives of Seacoast residents. Class participation, shared knowledge, expertise and personal perspectives are important components of the well-rounded curriculum.

With over 570 alumni and two decades of success, Leadership Seacoast offers current and future community leaders the opportunity to meet others who are actively involved with the issues that will shape the future of our region.

History
Founded in 1988 by a group of seacoast community leaders concerned with encouraging volunteer involvement and strong regional leadership, Leadership Seacoast was one of the first leadership programs nationally, modeled after a similar successful program begun in Atlanta.

Mission
To positively impact the communities of the Seacoast area by developing a base of effective, knowledgeable, and engaged leaders through exploration of community issues, effective leadership practices, and opportunities for personal involvement.

 
The Leadership Seacoast Approach
Educate leaders within the government, business, and nonprofit sectors through a core program, which expands awareness of community and the interconnectedness of a broad range of issues affecting the seacoast.
