The Curriculum: Program Days

The Leadership Seacoast program offers a total of nine program days, consisting of day-long workshops on a variety of interconnected topics:

Justice Day

As a result of this program day, participants will be provided with a holistic view of:

  • Impact of the interconnectedness of social issues, mental health and substance abuse on the criminal justice system;
  • Explore best practices, data and current trends in the criminal justice system; and what initiatives are happening in Seacoast communities.

Education

As a result of this program day, participants will have an understanding of the:

  • Continuum of education options and alternatives for 0-5rom Innovative programming- its effectiveness, implications, cost and barriers to delivery- in Seacoast public schools;
  • Future of education in the Seacoast and alternatives.

Arts/Culture

As a result of this program day, participants will have an understanding of the:

  • Impact of arts and cultural activities on our local economy and our quality of life;
  • Diversity and depth of cultural opportunities and assets in the Seacoast.

Economic Development

As a result of this program day, participants will have an understanding of the:

  • Relationship of local decision making to economic development.
  • Barriers, challenges and local conditions effecting the development of the region’s economy.

Government

As a result of this program day, participants will have an understanding of the:

  • Legislative process, ease of access in NH and importance of individual advocacy in NH.
  • Priorities of funding for other critical issues.

Health and Human Services

As a result of this program day, participants will have an understanding of the:

  • Delivery of healthcare in the Seacoast and its impact on the region’s communities;
  • Social services in the region, the benefit and barriers to delivery.

Environment

As a result of this program day, participants will have an understanding of the:

  • Balance between preserving and protecting our environment and convenience—and the role that balance has on our quality of life;
  • Renewable energy opportunities in the Seacoast;
  • Sustainability initiatives in the region.
