Non Profit Prepares for 30th Anniversary
PORTSMOUTH, NH, July 7, 2017– Leadership Seacoast, an organization committed to developing informed and active community leaders, recently elected its 2017-2018 officer slate and added five new members to its board. Re-Elected to serve a one year term on the executive committee are Sonya Merritt (chair), Janet Guen (vice chair) and Claire Howard (secretary)newly elected treasurer, Sarah Wheeler, will replace out-going treasurer Kristi Vazifdar. Also serving on the Leadership Seacoast board are new members: Amanda Beaulieu, Mark Danie, Susan Geier, and Walter Roberts. Returning board members include: Don Campfield, Susan DeRoy, Rachel Rouillard, Strider Sulley, and Astrid Wielens. “We have an impressive roster of program alumni that generously give their time and talent to help us offer impactful experiential learning opportunities to develop the future Seacoast leaders,” said Jennifer Wheeler, Executive Director of Leadership Seacoast.
Preparing to celebrate its thirtieth year of programming, Leadership Seacoast provides experiential learning across cultural, social, political, and economic issues facing the Seacoast region. More than 900 participants have graduated from the program and most have gone on to get actively involved in their own communities. The next enrollment session begins in the fall 2017. About Leadership Seacoast
Based out of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Leadership Seacoast was founded in 1988 by members of the Seacoast community looking to raise engagement in surrounding areas. Since its start over 29 years ago, Leadership Seacoast has graduated roughly 800 students with over 150 different companies involved. The program is designed for adult learners looking to get exposure and explanations on various issues that affect the surrounding communities along with how they as individuals can help such issues. Leadership Seacoast accepts 30-35 individuals annually from local businesses, government, general community, and non-profit sectors into its six-month program. Filled with many opportunities for learning, classroom discussion and consensus building, the program offers a network of community leaders who can support each other in building greater communities.
